Check out Noises Off: Is Theatre Run By Posh People For Posh People ! The Guardian (re: wikipedia: The Manchester Guardian : a British national daily newspaper) writes about Joshua Conkel’s blog in reaction to Michael Kaiser’s blog, the Inadvertent Deep Facebook Debate Among NYC Theatre Artists I posted on my blog as a reaction to Josh’s blog about Kaiser’s blog, Alejandro Morales’s (who has a show coming up soon) response to his blog and my blog on his blog, the lower case letters blog ,and also Garret Eisler’s response to the whole thing on the Playgoer blog. As playwright Tommy Smith quoted on his blog, this has become the “Human Centipede of reposts”. Oh. And If you don’t know what the “Human Centipede” is, DO NOT GOOGLE IT and I’M SORRY I EVEN MENTIONED IT (see below):
-
Jonathan Clark Please never mention Human Centipede again. I’m still freaked out.February 23 at 4:22pm ·

Leah Winkler I concur. I am still a little mad at my friend who told me about the Human Centipede.February 23 at 4:23pm · · 1 personLoading…

Also, some fun art(?) projects came from that Charlie Sheen Monologue:
-NY Neofuturist Jeffery Cranor translates it into German and back (yes, you read that correctly). He writes:
-Meta-winning: Here’s an Audioboo by @jocularfowl performing the transcript of Charlie Sheen’s Rant. http://boo.fm/b291250
-And of course, Christopher Diercksen uses the rant monologue on Xtranormal: http://youtu.be/gLp7JwWn1R8
The monologue was also featured on Beyond Broadway Daily
In other news, people are still suffering and dying everywhere.
I would love to know your thoughts on the link from _The Manchester Guardian_.
I thought the article was great and I agree with Josh. Glad to be a part of the discussion and that people are talking about it. It’s a very good step. I do think that the best that we ( and I say we as in artists who do not come from wealthy or even middle class backgrounds) do have it way harder ( that is not news) and it’s important for us to work despite what is our “system”. However, I get the argument that we have to “beat them at their own game” and the best thing for me personally, is to just keep making work in any way that I can. It’s just unfair sometimes because I highly agree that theaters tend to put on productions that are geared more for upper middle class-upper class audiences and if you dont write about stuff like that, it’s very hard. But I also agree with the opinion that throwing up our hands and complaining about class can also be destructive on it’s own-so my main priority is just to make time amidst day jobs, rent, etc to be able to make art and not to view it as a sacrifice. In short, I loved that article very much!
